SAN Cecilia

Because the production team "has always been rooted in the reality of this land of the living," SAN Cecilia was modeled on an actual Mexican community, according to Harley Jessup, the film's production designer. The movie portrays SAN Cecilia as "an ancient and charming city" by using antiquated construction materials.

Guanajuato

The ancient city of Guanajuato, which is referred described as "having overturned the palette," is situated in central Mexico and is roughly four hours' drive from Mexico City. It is a city of art and culture and a well-known tourist destination. This location served as the inspiration for the animated movie "Coco". The old town of Guanajuato and the mining communities around it were added to UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1988.

Onkritch said, "I have seen this image in folk art." The combination of a skull and bright, festive colors has deeply stimulated my imagination. It led me onto a tortuous path of exploration. The more I learn about the Day of the Dead, the more deeply I can feel its influence.Death does not mean an end. The deceased merely go to live in another world. During the Day of the Dead, they can return to the real world that belongs to the living and reunite with their loved ones. This is naturally something worth celebrating joyfully.

Coco” is about family, connecting with loved ones and pursuing your dreams. And according to director Lee Unkrich, it’s all rooted in music. “‘Coco’ has music in its DNA,” says Unkrich. “Music shapes the film. Some characters are musicians, while others want nothing to do with it.” In ‘Coco,’ we pay homage to all different styles of Mexican music.”

The line that impressed me the most in the film is: "As long as you are remembered, you will never truly leave." In the warm atmosphere of the Day of the Dead, we learned to remember and cherish. Those relatives who have left us may always be by our side in our memories and in the stories passed down within our families.

According to Coco, it is possible to love one's home and to pursue one's aspirations. Family love and music are not mutually exclusive. We have the option to cling to our principles in love while simultaneously acknowledging the family that has been secretly supporting us throughout our journey to achieve our goals.
Sometimes we believe that "dreams" and "family" must be chosen, but this movie softly teaches us that true happiness may coexist with family love.
